About Me

My name is Carol and I am married to the man of my dreams, Rod  and we live in a rural community in Central Florida out in the woods where the mosquitos and other critters live, we work together taking care of two businesses and he is also a new square dance caller so I also help support him with that endeavor. I am the proud mother of three fantastic grown children, a proud Army Mom  and absolutely delighted to be a  grandmother of two beautiful grandchildren. I love following all the country living blogs and decided to start this blog to share my love of scratch cooking, canning, dehydrating, sewing, gardening and finding new ways to save money.

I love decorating my home with hand crafted western and native american items and I continue to  learn about the native american traditions and stories, as our family on my mother’s side is Cherokee though many years back it is still fascinating and of which I am very proud.

I started this blog to help keep my focus on the progress of my projects; be it learning a new recipe from a new cookbook or fellow blogger, working on my sewing projects, my continued war with the squirrels in my garden and the enjoyment with square dancing and round dancing with the many wonderful folks in Florida.

I hope you will drop in from time to time, pull up a rocking chair and sit for a spell. In square dancing we have a move called the “Yellowrock” which is giving your corner which in this case is you the visitor a hug. So until next time here’s a yellowrock from me to you. Leave a comment if you like, but please keep it polite so all can enjoy.

I was wondering if you could help me out with the instructions on the Countryside Cottage center block. My mom has been working on this and handed me the center block to do partially done. I cannot figure out what the size of the center block should be to sew them together. She has all the pieces cut but did not put the ivory and green pieces together to make the block. Would appreciate help.

    • I measured the center of the quilt and it is 22 inches square after completion. I remember sewing the green and cream colors together with 1/4 inch seams then the cottage, and shreds get sewn on top. Hope that helps.

  3. Hi Kathy,
