Sunday Dancing at the Casselberry Hoedowners

Yellowrock Country Girl-Pic by Michael Craft

I have been trying all week to write-up my post on Sunday’s dance and the internet signal here has been horrible and has not been strong enough to even type, so finally this evening I checked again and here I am!

We had a great dance at the Hoedowners this past Sunday with 4 squares dancing part of the afternoon and even a few extras sitting along the sidelines. The students are coming along great and making great strides in the calls and seem to be having a great time.

Gene,Rod and Dick all provided us with a great time of dancing and Dick had us doing waltzes and  polkas! The newest polka which he says is from way back was “Papa Jo Polka”, I wrote that one down so I can ask as a request! Polkas are such great fun and really perk everyone up. The line dancers also did some great tips to “Mama Maria and Restless Shuffle” . Sorry, Norma and Nany  that I missed those dances.

It’s good to see more of the snow birds coming in as well , we sure missed them over the summer.

Thanks goes out to Tim Parker for setting up the hall before the dance and Martha,Lisa,Mary O and Florence and everyone else I may have missed that set up refreshments and brought all the yummy sweets!

Happy Birthday to Dawn, John P and Joan Skellie . Happy Anniversary to Jerry and Margaret Baron. Congrats goes out to Tim and Dick C for winning the 50/50 and cry-baby dollar. Well wishes go out to Rita D, Eileen and Buzz and I know Norma Newton has also been under the weather and I hope she is getting better as well.

Next Sunday 11/13/2011 is the Hoedowners 27th Anniversary Dance and everyone is looking forward to celebrating another great year of dancing for the Hoedowners.

Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and we have the sign up sheet at the front desk for what food you want to bring for the dinner if you are attending. I hope we have a great turn-out for the dinner and dance. Rod & I also have a raid scheduled at the Brendon Squares to get our banner back that they have had for nearly a year. Soooo, everyone can eat all the desserts you want and then we will dance off those calories and then we can go down and eat at Brendon Squares and dance the rest of the afternoon away. This way you do not have to feel guilty about eating twice!!

Marty and Julia are also still collecting dues and insurance from the club members in the amount of $10.50 which covers dues and insurance.

Rod and I are getting quite excited as our new dance club Wrangler Country Squares grand opening dance is on Friday evening 11/11/2011 at the Pioneer Art Settlement in Barberville, Florida. We welcome one and all for a great evening of dancing and cowboy hats are optional!

Until next time I see you in a square or a round, here’s sending you a “yellowrock” 😉

PS: HAPPY VETERANS DAY TO ALL THE VETERANS AND THE REST OF THE MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN  OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY. THANK YOU FOR YOU SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY, AND AS YOU FOLKS SEE THEM OUT LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH WE TRULY APPRECIATE THEM ALL. GOD BLESS THEM AND PROTECT THEM ALL.
