Dancing at Casselberry and Geneva

Yellowrock Country Girl- pic by Michael Craft

Well , I hope everyone had a great weekend. Rod and I got to the dance later than usual at The Casselberry Hoedowners and when we arrived the new students were in full swing learning, pass-thru, trade-by, circle left and partner trades. We had six new students, with half being guys which are always in demand! Thanks go out to all of the “angels” out there that helped with the new students.

We had three squares dancing thru the afternoon and everyone was happy to have Gene and Marty back with us after their long vacation to Nova Scotia and Boston.
Lots of thanks go out to Lisa,Dawn,Martha, Eileen,Buzz  and Tim for setting up the hall for a great dance. The hall was decorated with pink and black balloons for the 50’s dance. Gene had us dancing to all kinds of 50’s music and had us really going with trying to “Name That Tune” for the mystery songs.
Dick Nordine had us round dancing to Rock Around The Clock. Rod called to Lawdy,Lawdy Miss Clawdy.
Congrats to John Price for winning the 50/50 and Buzz got the crybaby dollar again! It was nice to see Michael and Alice Craft again and Michael took some great photos of the dance that you can see over at www.howdowners.net.
Jan Shankle and her son Dennis stopped in for a visit from the Whirl and Twirl. We are also reminding everyone that we have a banner raid scheduled to the Granada Squares in Ormond Beach on Oct. 4th. I hope we can have a good turnout and we are trying to work out car pool arrangements.
There is also a special dance in Debary on Oct 12th with the national caller Tim Miller.
After we left the Casselberry Hoedowners, we headed on over to the Brendon Squares in Geneva. With our arrival they had 3 squares. Rod called a couple of  tips, including Boogie Shoes and Wave on Wave. Don Whitaker kept the dancers on their toes thru the afternoon trying out some new moves.
We had a great time with the Brendon Squares and we will be planning on a banner raid with the Casselberry Hoedowners headed to Geneva in the next few months to get our banner back from them, so keep you eyes and ears open for date to be announced. 😉
By the end of yesterday my feet were tired and ready to head on back home. Until the next time I hope to see you all in a square or round, sending out a yellowrock from me to you.
